What is the Trading Online Voucher?

In summary, the Trading Online Voucher is a grant worth up to 2,500 for small to medium businesses to improve their online presence, with a focus on bookings, payments or online sales.

The grant is provided by your Local Enterprise Office (LEO).

The Trading Online Voucher grant programme allows small to medium businesses avail of a matched-funds grant of up to €2500.

This means you can get a website worth €5,000 for half price.

On this page we’ll answer the most common questions regarding the Trading Online Voucher.

Who can get the Trading Online Voucher?

The voucher is available for any business that fulfils the following criteria:

  • You must be actively trading for at least 6 months.

  • You must not employ more than 10 people (if you have no employees that’s fine too).

  • Your annual turnover must be less than €2 million.

  • Your current website must either have no eCommerce / online payments aspect, or be limited or outdated.

How long does it take to get the Trading Online Voucher?

The process is fairly quick. There are two parts that are a bit time consuming – the first is the application form (but The Website Shop will help you with this), and the second is the Webinar, which is a 2-3 hour online presentation about the voucher.

If you don’t sell products online can you still get the Trading Online Voucher?

Yes, the voucher isn’t just for selling products. If you sell your services online (for example, if you’re a consultant who takes payments for appointment bookings) then it meets the criteria.

When do you receive the funds from the Trading Online Voucher?

The grant is awarded after the website work is completed, and after you have made the full payment yourself.

For example, you would pay your web designer €5,000 at the end of the project, and then the Local Enterprise Office would transfer you €2500 which is 50% of the funds.

What if my web designer disappears, or doesn’t complete the project?

With the Trading Online Voucher being a significant investment, it’s important to make sure you’re hiring a trustworthy provider.

At The Website Shop we’ve heard many stories of web designers dropping out of contact and leaving the client high and dry. It’s why many of our clients end up hiring us, because we have physical stores in Dublin open Monday to Friday, so you always know where to find us.
